I have decided that the rest of the parts will have individual paint treatment the intricate and rusted parts by hand and the big items like tank mudguards, and fairing by normal spray methods.
I am left with a mountain of freezer bags all full of labelled parts each one will need to be inspected and cleaned repaired or replaced. Fastenings will need to be plated or replaced (a list of bolts nuts and washers compiled).
Major work will be required on
The front hub, bearings and actuators
The wheels will need rebuilding with new spokes and new tyres
The carburettors will need a session in the last chance saloon
Swinging arm bearings
Refurbishment of barrels and heads
Cleaning of exterior castings (soda blast?)
Seat recover
Fairing manufacture
Headlamp brackets and many other small fixings fixings
Steering column and controls
Brake rotors and hydraulic reservoir lines and callipers
And all that before reassembly begins ….
The Strip down is almost over, I have cleaned the gearbox and short engine and will soon be sending them off.
Just look at the length of the frame on the left its pretty rusty and dirty but it will soon be with ‘nick the blaster’ who will clean it up and then it will be powder coated
