Well rebuilding a bike is full of surprises. I got the hub back from the expert and he has done a wonderful job. I slipped it into the taveners jig clamped up the rim and added the spokes tightening them up by ear  when all was done I placed it in the steering yoke and added a dial gauge result:  30 thou run out! And I thought it would be so hard. In comparison I have had a hell of a job sorting the bearings for the rear wheel heating the hub setting up and then freezing the bearing stack  I thought it would be so easy, to be honest after one try I have put it aside until I feel calm about it, what a crazy idea to have a bearing in a dead end and a complex way of preloading the bearings. In comparison fitting taper rollers in a Vincent wheel is simplicity itself, what were BMW thinking about?

The rear drive and swing arm complete with new pivots has been assembled and the rear brake pedal refurbished.  At great expense (for what it is) I purchased a second hand rear brake arm I noticed in my local motorcycle shop a pile of those levers all corroded away. Not a very good advert (This is proving to be a bit of a BMW downer month) I made a new brake rod from stainless steel.
